We started our day out in Reykjavik and got some breakfast at Braud and Co. We split a pretzel croissant and a cinnamon roll. Both were delicious and highly recommended! Next, we went to the volcano erupting in southwest Iceland (see below for some lava pics!). That was quite a hike. After that, we went to Fridheimar for lunch. They are a tomato-themed restaurant that grows tomatoes in a greenhouse - and you eat in the greenhouse too! We had to wait a half hour for a table, so we got two different kinds of tomato beers (see below). The light one was better than the dark one. We both got the tomato soup buffet and I hate to admit this but I ate at least 4 bowls. Ian thinks it may be as high as 6. They had all different types of bread to go with it. We ordered a tomato and apple pie that I would recommend skipping - just focus on that tomato soup and bread! Then we hit the highlights of the Golden Circle: Geysir and Strokkur (two geysers and Strokkur seems to erupt every 10 minutes or so) Gullfoss waterfall Thingvellir National Park and Kerid crater (all pictured below). By the time we finished all that, it was around 10:00pm...still very bright out. Got to the hotel around 11pm and I just finished a nice hot bath (no pictures!). After midnight now and it's still a bit bright out...tomorrow is the summer solstice! 🎉
