A beautiful day! Started out with a solid Icelandic breakfast at the hotel, and then headed to Skaftafell - part of a national park where we took a short hike to a glacier. Next, we did one of the most ambitious activities I've ever done - hiked a glacier! We drove out in a van with big wheels on a very rocky road for about a half hour. Then we hiked for a half hour before coming to the glacier - which we hiked up and down for about an hour and a half. We had clamps on our shoes and hiking a glacier is pretty physically exhausting. I was the slow poke of our 4 person group, but we are all safe and sound - just quite sore! Then we went to Diamond Beach which had chunks of ice on a black sand beach. Across the street was the Ice Lagoon - tons of floating icebergs...amazing! We didn't get dinner until around 9pm at Ups - a very veggie friendly restaurant in Hofn. They definitely don't wuss out on the spices - delicious! By the way, this was the second time we've eaten inside a restaurant in over a year and a half! Very little COVID here, if any.
Our hotel is very nice, with a beautiful view. Tomorrow - Lake Myvatn and much more!
